Located in Alc\u00e2ntara, CUF Tejo Hospital is a reinforced and prestressed concrete structure on an approximately 10,200sqm area, with six above-ground floors and four underground floors. It consists of three bodies separated by two seismic joints above the ground floor. The large cantilevers facing Tejo River, with an 8m span, are made of a composite steel and prestressed concrete structure. The underground levels were executed according to the contractor’s proposal, using a top-down solution. Therefore, the diaphragm wall and the piles foundations of the columns, were made beforehand to support the 58m wide slabs. The piles were used to support both temporary steel columns (removed after the top\/down was completed) and permanent ones (later incorporated into the final reinforced concrete columns). In this approach, the slabs of the underground floors were executed using hangers that suspended the respective formwork.
